No, its not the same 1989 movie of the same name, but in fact its a completely new IP that’s set to be released on the PC.
Published by Paradox Interactive, and developed by Fatshark, War of the Roses transports players back in time to the battle-ravaged, dynastic civil war era of 15th century England where ownership of the throne of England was brutally fought over between supporters of two rival branches of the Royal House of Plantagenet – the house of Lancaster (the reds) and the house of York (the whites).
The game features a large medival multiplayer mode, where players can go toe-to-toe in a third-person, up-close-and-personal, sword-and-shield team-based battle to step all over their opponents, and sometimes impale their face multiple times with a sword.
According to Paradox’s website, the game has a major focus on multiplayer, but players will get to delve into an immersive and engaging story driven single player mode that will help to prepare players for the intensity multiplayer will have to offer.
No release date has been announced.
