Bayonetta 2 receiving criticism over its exclusiveness to Wii U

Well we should’ve seen this coming when the game was finally unveiled.

A mixed reaction from fans over PlatinumGames’ decision to run this game exclusively for the Wii U. This could be so that many hard-core fans of the game will be apt to go out and purchase a Wii U come release time in order to step into the boots of Bayonetta yet again.

But where does that leave fans on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles?

A statement from PlatinumGames CEO and President Tatsuya Minami in an article on IGN.com explains why this was the route they took.

“Bayonetta has fans the world over, and we would never dream of alienating them from participating in the future of PlatinumGames.

That being said, the console games market is in a state of upheaval, so establishing a new game franchise requires a considerable amount of will, determination, and love. Bayonetta is a brand that we want to see become stronger, reaching the hands of more and more gamers, so we have continued to consult with SEGA, the previous game’s publisher, on how we can make sure this takes place. Our answer was a new partnership with Nintendo.

Alongside Nintendo, we hope to grow the Bayonetta brand beyond where it stands today, allowing even more gamers around the world to experience the action of our beloved witch.”

No release date has been set for the game, but for those who want to give the game a chance, you better start saving up for a Wii U.
