To answer the headline’s question, we’re still very much alive. Proof of that exists over on Youtube.
During the second-to-last weekend of August, we went away to the cottage to record a lot of gameplay footage for the channel. More recently, we’ve been trying to focus on returning to our roots, which has always been about the games.
However, our channel’s video content seems to suggest otherwise. That’s not to say we wouldn’t like to expand our horizons once in a while.
We haven’t recorded a Stardust Drive Podcast since June, and Comic Soup hasn’t happened since August. So frankly, it’s been a while since we’ve recorded a podcast, which was at the time our primary focus on this site.
And more recently in the last two weeks, I’ve come to realize that since we left to the cottage, activity on the site has become nonexistent. Could this mean another shift in the direction of our channel?
I’ve taken to doing some research on other sites that we’ve drawn inspiration from for this website and our Youtube channel, including NormalBoots.com (home of JonTron, PeanutButterGamer and ProJared), as well as 4PlayerNetwork, whom have taken a number of shifts in terms of content distribution.
Back in early 2014, 4PlayerNetwork’s very own Nick and Brad took to Youtube to announce a change to the website. They began to realize that the current format of their website needed a change and that their focus had shifted away from written content and reviews and more towards their roots, which had been video game live-streaming and podcasting, with a focus on community.
That being said, the team has taken strides to better improve the layout of their website to allow for a more community-driven experience, rather than stick to their old layout which hid the forums.
In order to keep up to date, and to be able to keep the site pumping out new content, this may involve a change in the layout of our website. However, this is something that at the moment we will need to do a little more research on and also decide on a number of options.
Considering my background is not in computer programming, I cannot build a website from the ground up, so I am left to relying on WordPress templates to help as a bare skeleton to what I want to build. With that in mind, I foresee that with the year coming to a close in a few short months, 2015 will be another year that sees hefty change, much like 2014 was.
I don’t believe I can carry the load on my own, which is why I will be turning to my peers for support. We will continue pumping out content on our Youtube channel, that for sure will not change. But we need a new plan of attack when it comes to the site here.
So once again, thanks for tuning in. If you’d like to keep up to speed, videos are coming out regularly over on the ‘Stardust Drive Productions’ Youtube channel. Follow the link below to watch, and I will stay in touch!
